Lee Sharpe praises two ‘exceptional’ Manchester United players, they are proving Ruben Amorim correct

Lee Sharpe has delivered praise for two ‘exceptional’ Manchester United players who seem to be proving Ruben Amorim’s decisions correct.

Manchester United have recorded consecutive Premier League wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim, following their 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on the weekend.

Although their performances and results have been inconsistent so far this season, the three points earned on Merseyside move United up to ninth place; just three points adrift of second-placed Manchester City.

Still, consistency remains the key challenge for Amorim’s side, and this win will only matter if they can maintain momentum.

Next up is a clash with Brighton at Old Trafford, a team that has caused United plenty of problems in recent years.

Sharpe praises two ‘exceptional’ United players

It was Harry Maguire who deservedly stole the headlines at Anfield following his late winner but there were many impressive United performers on the day.

Matheus Cunha’s display, especially towards the end of the game, has been praised and fellow new signing Bryan Mbeumo also excelled and found the back of the net for the opener.

The two summer signings were singled out for praise by United icon Lee Sharpe, who believes they have both been ‘exceptional’ additions to the squad.

Speaking to MUTV, Sharpe said: “They’ve been an absolute breath of fresh air. The pair of them, they know they’re prepared to run forward, they’re prepared to run in behind people and upset defences.

“I thought Cunha was unbelievable, holding the ball up with his strength, and power, and ability, the two of them have been exceptional.”

Cunha and Mbeumo not even at best level yet

Even though there have been some question marks about bringing in two players for the no.10 positions in the summer, both Cunha and Mbeumo are brilliant players.

Amorim wanted Premier League-proven forwards who can deal with the pressure of playing for the club and so far it seems like both of those additions are proving him correct.

Cunha is still yet to open his United account but the things he is offering outside of goals or assists are very important. United probably do not hold onto the three points at Anfield without the Brazilian in those final 15 minutes.

Mbeumo is a goalscorer and we are beginning to see the best of him, but the way he holds the ball and can link play or run in behind is a different level to what we’ve been used to on the wings at Old Trafford for a while.

Many United fans will agree with Sharpe’s assessment of the United duo, and the exciting thing is that neither of them have shown us their very best level yet.
