Wes Brown has come to the defence of one Manchester United star who is in a ‘horrible situation’ after recent criticism.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw confirmed that he suffered another injury setback earlier this week.

The left-back had only recently come back to fitness, coming off the bench for Ruben Amorim’s team in his opening three fixtures.

“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period,” wrote Shaw in a statement posted on his social media account.

“I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.”

The 29-year-old is clearly in a tough situation and Amorim has reiterated his backing for the defender in recent days, but many fans remain frustrated with the situation, especially after he played at Euro 2024 in the summer.

Wes Brown, whose own career was heavily impacted by injuries, has defended the England international and explained that people should ‘leave him alone’ as he deals with an extremely difficult setback.

“The lads’ not meant to get injured. You know, it’s happened, and he’s got to deal with it, and not only himself and his family and your close friends, deal with it, with him,” Brown said on MUTV.

“He doesn’t want to be injured. It’s frustrating. You know, it’s been so long now, so all we wish him the best and that he just, doesn’t rush it back and gets back to to the fitness that and healthy and ready to play again.

“Until then we need to leave him alone and let him get on with it. But it’s a horrible situation, again there’s probably nothing worse with with what he’s gone through.”

Reports have claimed that Shaw’s injury will keep him out of action for around three weeks, suggesting a return shortly after Christmas.
