Erik ten Hag has provided the latest team news for Manchester United’s away trip against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday.

United turn their attention to their London-bound clash against Patrick Viera’s men, with a win being able to propel them into second place for at least 24 hours, with Manchester City facing Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening.

With another London-based fixture coming on Sunday, against table-topping Arsenal, Ten Hag could utilise rotation against an out-of-form Palace side.

Regarding team news for the Old Trafford club, Anthony Martial’s availability remains uncertain after he was substituted at half-time in the derby day victory on Saturday.

“I hope to avoid that he was getting injured [by bringing him off],” said Ten Hag. “He was complaining, so that’s why he also didn’t train in the week and why he was a question mark.

“You saw he was not capable to go 100 per cent and that’s what you need. Also, to avoid him getting injured, we took him off, and it also had an impact on our game, a negative impact after half-time.”

Should the Frenchman be unable to start against Palace, an alternative could be new signing Wout Weghorst, who officially signed ahead of the game against City, but was not registered in time for that fixture.

“I have to think about that,” said Ten Hag when asked if the Dutchman could make his debut on Wednesday. “First, we will settle down for this game and make the right conclusions, then we will make a clear plan. I have to see about their players, as we have already faced Palace in pre-season and I know how their team is.

“The total plan I don’t have now and I haven’t constructed it. From this point on we can construct and prepare the team in the right way.”

Jack Butland will also be ineligible to play against Palace as the shot-stopper is on loan from The Eagles. Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek is ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Diogo Dalot suffered an injury setback against Charlton Athletic, but Ten Hag ensured it was ‘not serious’ after the game. He could return to the squad.

Jadon Sancho returned to first-team training on Tuesday, but this game will likely be too soon for him to join the squad. Marcus Rashford suffered a knock in that game in the first half before scoring a late winner.

Both Casemiro and Fred are one yellow card away from a one-match suspension, which would see them miss out on United’s trip to The Emirates on Sunday. Following this matchday, the card system is reset.

Crystal Palace team news

Joachim Andersen was forced off in the first half in Palace’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea on the weekend, with Viera awaiting an update on his central defender. While Nathan Ferguson and James McArthur will be unavailable.

Former Red Wilfred Zaha will be lining up in the forward line for Palace, likely up against one of United’s four
