Latest Man United team news ahead of Carabao Cup semi-final 2nd leg vs Nottingham Forest: Jadon Sancho to return to squad
Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening.
Goals from Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst, and Bruno Fernandes put United in a strong position to reach their first domestic cup final since 2018.
With a tough run of games on the horizon and several injury troubles, a slight squad rotation might be on the cards for Erik ten Hag’s men.
Manchester United team news
The latest injury concern for the home side is Christian Eriksen, who was on the receiving end of a brutal tackle by Andy Carroll during United’s FA Cup tie against Reading. The Dane was pictured leaving Old Trafford on crutches and it has now been confirmed that he will be out until late April to early May.
United are currently looking for a replacement for Eriksen on deadline day and it looks like Marcel Sabitzer is the likeliest addition.
Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho have been absent in recent games. Fortunately, Ten Hag confirmed in his pre-match press conference that both players will return to the matchday squad.
Scott McTominay remains on the sideline while it remains to be seen whether Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw will be fit to play against Forest.
Donny van de Beek will miss the rest of the 2022/23 season and is currently undergoing rehab after a successful knee surgery.
Harry Maguire will be a welcome addition to the matchday squad after missing the first leg to suspension.
Nottingham Forest team news
The away side has been struck with an injury blow to Morgan Gibbs-White, who had arguably been their best player this season. The Englishman went down with an ankle injury in the first leg after giving Casemiro one of the most difficult games of his season.
Jack Colback and Ryan Yates are struggling with illness, while Taiwo Awoniyi, Giulian Biancone, Cheikhou Kouyate, and Omar Richards are all sidelined with injuries.
United loanee Dean Henderson is ineligible to play while also being out with a thigh injury. Chris Wood and potential new signing Jonjo Shelvey are both cup-tied, having played in the competition earlier with Newcastle United.
