Kobbie Mainoo sends Gareth Southgate BIG message as he faces two Manchester United teammates

Kobbie Mainoo has sent a big message to Gareth Southgate as the England star prepares to face two of his Manchester United teammates.

Kobbie Mainoo made his competitive debut for England on Sunday evening as the Manchester United star came on towards the end of their opening game of the 2024 European Championships.

Jude Bellingham scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win over Serbia. The Real Madrid midfielder rightly grabbed the headlines for his fantastic header in the first half.

However, Mainoo has now declared that, despite the heroics of those such as Bellingham, he wants to break into the first team.

In a big message to Gareth Southgate, Mainoo has said that he is ready to play and has been training hard to be ready whenever he is needed.

“I’m ready to play, whether that’s off the bench or starting,” Mainoo told reporters on Tuesday afternoon at England’s training base in Blankenhain, east Germany.

“Obviously, there are other great midfielders in the squad in the Premier League or abroad, like Jude [Bellingham]. I’m trying to train hard and be ready when I’m called upon.”

He also sent a warning shot at fellow Manchester United teammates Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund, who will line up against England for Denmark when the two teams clash on Thursday afternoon.

“They’re both great teammates to me; Rasmus is young like me, so I am always around him. I am trying to learn and pick up from Christian. If I’m to play on Thursday, I’ll have to put that to the side, compete against him, and hopefully get the win.”

Continuing, Mainoo said on Højlund: “I’ve not spoken to him recently, but I’ll leave that for after the game. I’m focused on here, and maybe after the game, I’ll speak to him.

“Maybe, I don’t know, I haven’t played against him before. He’s a really good friend; it’s good to have them relationships on the pitch and off the pitch.”
