One former Manchester United man has claimed that Kobbie Mainoo will not want to leave United but makes a worrying claim about Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United need to sell players in the coming months if they want to bring in new talent for Rúben Amorim. This is a statement of fact.

However, amid this truth, rumours have started to fly about who could leave the club, with many pointing to Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Casemiro as three names who could be moved on in January or the summer.

However, others have pointed out that the club would be open to the sales of other Academy players, such as Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, as their transfer fees would go down as “pure profit”, which benefits their financial books.

Mainoo has recently been linked with Chelsea, while other claims see Atletico Madrid keen to bring Garnacho back to La Liga.

Mainoo does not want to leave United

However, when asked about the topic of Mainoo potentially departing Old Trafford, former United defender Paul Parker has stated he’s sceptical of the reports.

The 60-year-old explained to BetFred that Mainoo likely does not want to leave United, and a move away would cause too many issues for United.

“I’m sceptical of anything I read and hear now because so many people make things up for headlines, which seems the way to go now,” Parker started.

“However, I’d look and say with Kobbie Mainoo, where he’s from and everything he is about, does he want to leave Manchester United? I would say no.

“I would look at the way he is as a person, is he going to be greedy in what he wants? I would say no. So I can’t see them doing that because Manchester United has been built off players who have come through like him.

“If they were to do that, it would just cause too many issues. INEOS and the new kids on the block are already just hanging in there, so to do that would be a big statement to make.”

This comes amid a report from the Manchester Evening News that Mainoo wants to stay at United but also desires an improved contract.

Parker makes a worrying claim surrounding Garnacho

However, Parker made a claim about Garnacho, explaining that he feels the player does not hold the same stance at United and that he would be easier for the club to sell.

“Regarding Garnacho, if someone new were to come in, I don’t think he holds the same as Mainoo. Would he be missed in that sense? I would personally say no, not at all really, and doubt he would be missed too much if he were to go.

“It appears that he is already looking for that move anyway and will go once he thinks that a big club abroad is going to be better than Manchester United. I think he will only find out once he gets there that it won’t be the same.

“He will understand that where he is now is virtually as good as it gets, and he needs to show everything.”

Parker’s claim about Garnacho may be slightly worrying as he is clearly a talented young player who needs a little more time to adapt to the 3-4-3 system Amorim is installing at the club.

If they let him go, they would be letting go of a potentially fantastic player for the future.

Garnacho is used to playing as a wide winger, but now he is being forced to play a little more centrally, which will no doubt be hard for him to adapt to as a young player who is still learning his trade.
