Journalist reveals Manchester United’s reaction to Marcus Rashford’s bombshell interview

One journalist has revealed Manchester United’s reaction to Marcus Rashford’s bombshell interview where he suggested that he’s open to leaving Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford responded to the recent rumours surrounding his Manchester United future in an interview with Henry Winter on social media platform X.

The club’s no.10 has been in and out of the team this season under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

He was substituted at half-time by the Dutchman during the 3-3 draw against FC Porto despite scoring twice in the first half of the game.

Under Amorim, he has scored three goals in his two Premier League starts but was dropped from the Manchester Derby squad after a poor display against Viktoria Plzen.

Many reports have suggested that Rashford is up for sale as Sir Jim Ratcliffe aims to improve the club’s financial situation. Home grown sales are even more beneficial on the balance sheets, as shown by Scott McTominay’s exit last summer.

Now, Rashford himself has spoken out about his future. “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he admitted.

“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.”

These comments have come as a surprise to many supporters and it is being wondered whether things have happened behind the scenes that we’re not aware of.

Following the release of the interview, Norwegian journalist Fredrik Filtvedt contacted the club for their immediate reaction.

He posted: “Manchester United declined to comment on whether they were aware of Marcus Rashford’s interview and statements beforehand, or what they think of the timing.”

Reaction from Amorim is expected on Wednesday morning, where he will face the media ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
