Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is said to be a big fan of the new song Manchester United fans have dedicated to him.
It’s not even been a full year since Old Trafford cheered when Joshua Zirkzee was subbed off following a difficult half-hour against Newcastle United.
The Dutchman ran down the tunnel following the substitution, and was clearly very emotional. Gary Neville summed the situation up quite well at the time.
“I know he is earning a lot of money, but there’s a human being in there that is basically being cheered off by his own fans, and that is brutal. I have not seen that too many times at Old Trafford in the 43 years I’ve been coming here if at all happen actually.”
About a month later though, Zirkzee scored the winning penalty in an FA Cup fixture against Arsenal at the Emirates and has been a fan-favourite since.
As the season went on, Zirkzee started to look more and more like the player United thought they were getting when they agreed a deal to sign him from Bologna. He has unfortunately had limited minutes so far this season, but scored his first of the season against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a 1-2 victory.
Zirkzee loves new song
According to MailSport, Joshua Zirkzee is a big fan of the new song dedicated to him by United supporters.
Following his impressive goal against Crystal Palace, United fans created a new song for Zirkzee to the tune of Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time’.
According to the report, Zirkzee is said to love the song and be deeply appreciative of the continued support despite his struggle for game time this season.
The forward has been linked with away from United in January as he seeks regular game time in a desperate last-ditch effort to make Ronald Koeman’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. There are, however, various reports that claim Zirkzee wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
Zirkzee departure would be best for both parties
As demonstrated last season, particularly in the Europa League, Zirkzee is a highly talented footballer. He isn’t a conventional striker; he functions more effectively as a false nine. He is technically gifted and thrives when dropping deep, drawing defenders out of position, creating space for teammates, and linking the play.
Unfortunately, that style doesn’t align with the striker profile Rúben Amorim wants. The Portuguese manager favours a striker who can run in behind and remain closer to goal. That is why Zirkzee was often deployed as a No.10 last season rather than as a No.9. Even in situations where Amorim does use a false 9, like against Liverpool at Anfield, Matheus Cunha has typically been preferred for that role.

United are stacked in the No. 10 positions, too. Bryan Mbeumo is United’s leading goal-scorer so far this season while Cunha has shown flashes of brilliance, albeit he hasn’t had the start to his United career that he would’ve hoped for. Mason Mount is also becoming better and better and is clearly very highly rated by Amorim.
Another challenge for Zirkzee has been coping with the physicality of the Premier League. His strongest performances last season came in Europe, particularly against sides like Real Sociedad who are nowhere near as physically dominant as Premier League opposition.
Zirkzee’s attributes make him better suited to La Liga or Serie A, where the style of play is more technical and less physical. A move outside of England in January could allow him to regain momentum. His stock in Italy is still very high, and AS Roma are said to be keen on bringing him to the Italian capital in January.
