Jonathan David confirms when he will announce next club amid Manchester United interest
Manchester United are planning to sign a centre-forward for Ruben Amorim at the end of the season as they continue to struggle with goalscoring issues.
Currently sitting 15th in the Premier League, Manchester United have endured a dreadful campaign so far, with the managerial change failing to spark a turnaround.
Ruben Amorim has been working to implement his playing style, but adapting mid-season has proven challenging.
The club’s only major signing in January was Patrick Dorgu, who arrived for around £25 million. However, the squad remains seriously lacking in attacking options. This has been reflected in their goal tally, with United managing just 28 Premier League goals so far.
With the summer transfer window approaching, United are expected to prioritize a striker to strengthen Amorim’s squad.
However, given their financial constraints, they must be strategic with their spending. Making smart, low-cost signings in certain areas could allow them to secure top targets in key positions.
United linked with Lille striker David
The Reds have been linked with various goalscorers in recent months, including Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres.
Another player who has been regularly linked to Old Trafford is Lille centre-forward Jonathan David, and the Canadian striker will be departing the French club this summer.
With his contract running out in June this year, David has confirmed that he will be leaving Lille on a free contract, which may attract United even more to a potential deal.
The 25-year-old has 20 goals and nine assists so far this season in 35 appearances as Lille currently sit fifth in the Ligue 1 table.
David confirms when he will announce next club
David has been speaking to French outlet Onze Mondial this week to clarify his future. He admits that he’d like to join one of the “biggest clubs in the world” but explains that a decision will not be communicated until after the season ends.
“Yes, I will be free at the end of the season. And as for my future, I hope to grow, to become a better player and to play for the biggest clubs in the world, if I can,” he admitted.
“But first of all, I just want to have fun, never forget that football is fun. I started playing football because I had fun. And even though it has now become a job, you have to remember that I wake up every morning for football, for the pleasure of playing.
“Do you want any clues about my future? You will all know in due time, that is at the end of the season. I will not comment before then.
“First of all, I want to finish this season well, the end looks exciting and I want to play well and help the team. And when the season is over, the decision will be made and announced.”
