Jesse Lingard should “look himself in the mirror” and apologise, says ex-Manchester United defender
Tuesday evening saw the return of Jesse Lingard to Old Trafford as Manchester United defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 with the return of the Premier League underway.
Jesse Lingard won three trophies and a community shield during his time as a Red Devil, scoring in three separate finals and providing some iconic moments during his 20 years at the club.
However, after leaving once his contract expired last summer, Lingard recently spoke out against United, saying he feels his final season at the club was full of “false promises” and that he deserved a proper send-off during his final home game last season.

Jesse Lingard played around an hour of football during Tuesday night’s clash, and was substituted due to an injury surrounding his hamstring. Paul Parker, former Manchester United full-back, has said that Lingard should “look himself in the mirror” and be honest about why he left United.
“Jesse Lingard wasn´t disrespected at all in Man United and for him to say that is totally wrong,” Parker told BonusBetCodes. “He is a local boy and now he is disrespecting the club instead of looking himself in the mirror.”
Parker continued by saying that the real reason Lingard didn’t play last season is simply because he was not good enough.
“Jesse wasn’t good enough to play for Man United and he needs to acknowledge that instead of coming with accusations about the club,” stated the ex-United defender.
One reason Lingard cited as to why he thinks he did not play enough was due to the politics surrounding the club last season, however Parker dismissed this, saying: “To talk about politics as the reasons why he was a failure is rubbish. You should never use that sentence when talking about football and if he really wants to talk politics he should go and talk to Gary Neville.”
Finally, Parker finished off by concluding that Lingard should apologise to the fans. “One day he will hopefully be mature enough to see that he disrespected the club by putting this in the newspaper and then should apologise to the club and the fans.”
