Jeremie Frimpong price tag revealed as Manchester United’s stance becomes clear

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong is expected to leave the Bundesliga club this summer and Manchester United’s stance on the situation has become clear.

Manchester United are looking to improve their squad in the coming transfer window, with additions needed for Ruben Amorim’s style to be successful.

The Reds are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table, with the new head coach experiencing difficulties implementing his system.

Several exits are expected in the summer – with Christian Eriksen admitting that he has come to terms with the fact he’s leaving – and so the club are going to need to address several positions.

It seems like wingback would be one on the agenda, with the position being so crucial to the way Amorim wants to play.

Frimpong price tag revealed

It has been reported by Sky Germany that Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong is looking to move on to his next chapter in the summer, with the Premier League being a “concrete option” for the player.

Frimpong was a key player for Leverkusen in their title-winning side last term and continues to perform for the German side this season.

Playing at right wingback, the 24-year-old has 18 goals and 21 assists since the beginning of last season and several clubs are keeping an eye on his situation.

Several reports have stated that Liverpool are eyeing Frimpong as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold if he leaves Anfield in the summer.

United were heavily linked to the Bundesliga star when Erik ten Hag was in charge and rumours have continued into Amorim’s tenure.

It has been explained by various reports that Frimpong has a £34 million release clause in his Leverkusen contract, which can be activated this summer.

United’s stance on Frimpong becomes clear

United missed out on the signing of Geovany Quenda after it was confirmed last week that the teenager had agreed to join Chelsea.

Many expect the club to look for alternatives for the right wingback position and Frimpong is viewed as one of the best right wingbacks around. He is used to playing the position under Xavi Alonso.

However, it has been revealed by recent reports that United are not looking for a direct alternative to Quenda, but are instead planning on moving Amad back to that position before strengthening in the frontline.

Amad has played in the right-sided no.10 position and at wingback under Amorim and excelled in both positions.

This move would mean that United are not planning on attacking a potential deal for Frimpong ahead of the summer transfer window.
