Jarrad Branthwaite has already eased one of the transfer concerns regarding a potential Manchester United move with a confident statement.

Branthwaite, 21, has agreed personal terms with United, and the Reds have moved forward by making their opening bid for the defender.

The Old Trafford outfit are in need of defensive reinforcements following Raphaël Varane’s exit, and the England international is at the top of that list.

One concern that United fans have about the 21-year-old is his suitability for the current team.

At Everton, Branthwaite plays as the left-sided centre-back, and many are questioning why United would not first look for a right-sided centre-back.

This is due to the ability of Lisandro Martínez, who will be starting on the left side whenever fit.

However, Branthwaite has an incredibly comfortable weak foot that some people have even mistaken for being his stronger foot.

The young defender also played on the right side of the centre-back pairing during his time on loan in the Eredivisie and has admitted that he is extremely comfortable playing with both feet.

“I am left-footed, but I’ve got a five-star weak foot on the new FIFA!” he told Everton media with a smirk last season. “If I’m hitting a long pass, I’ll go with my left; short passes with my right.”

It seems that Branthwaite would be comfortable enough to partner Martínez and also provide important depth on the left side as well.
