A quiet first half was followed up by a moment of pure quality from summer signings, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Sesko’s finish, with Senne Lammens keeping a clean sheet in one of his best performances in a United shirt.
Pundit Jamie Carragher has named one of United’s stars as the standout singing in the Premier League this season after impressing as a red.
Carragher names Mbeumo as signing of the season
Speaking on Sky Sports, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher gave his assessment on United’s Bryan Mbeumo as he leads the way in goalscorers for the Red Devils, having notched ten this season.
Carragher described the Cameroonian as “one of the best signings in the Premier League this season, and he suits Manchester United.”
Mbeumo arrived from Brentford in the summer for £70 million, taking over from the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Antony, who had underwhelming spells at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old has been a breath of fresh air for United fans, adding the necessary quality to guide United towards a Champions League finish.
The winger has totalled nine goals and three assists in the top flight and has been a driving force in Carrick’s side, grabbing a goal or an assist in five out of six games under the former Middlesbrough manager.

United’s successful summer scouting
The summer saw a major overhaul at United, with the transfer window focused on reviving United’s attacking line.
The club had a strong focus on bringing in proven talent to add guaranteed quality to the squad, rather than on more high-risk signings.
All four new recruits have now settled into the squad and are playing pivotal roles in the race for the Champions League.
There are always great expectations on United signings, with the hopes that they can be the turning point to get the club challenging for trophies again.
For now, United’s attention remains on the Premier League as they host Crystal Palace in their next tie at Old Trafford.
