Jadon Sancho returned to Manchester United’s first-team training on Tuesday after undergoing a personal training programme since November.

That’s according to Andy Mitten of The Athletic, who exclusively revealed the information on Tuesday evening. United would’ve had their final preparations for their Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace earlier in the day.

Sancho, 22, agreed with Erik ten Hag for a change of scenery with his training programme as he was not ‘mentally or physically fit’ according to the manager. Mitten added that it was not an ‘exile’, but rather the manager noticed the dip in form and wanted to address it in the best way possible.

The winger returned to Carrington last week and now with him taking part in first-team sessions, Ten Hag will hope that he’s able to contribute with United’s busy upcoming schedule.

It has been a difficult transition for Sancho from the Bundesliga – where he was known as one of the most talented players in Europe – to a transitioning United side that has struggled to control football matches during his time with the club.

With positive steps being taken in the last few months, and United on a nine-game winning streak, Sancho will hope to be able to add his talents to the group again in a more stable unit.

United also have the addition of Wout Weghorst in their squad, which beefs up Ten Hag’s attacking options. That is needed after the manager admitted Anthony Martial was not ‘100 per cent’ against Manchester City.
