Jadon Sancho responds to questions over his Man United future after Champions League MOTM performance
Jadon Sancho has responded to questions over his Manchester United future after receiving the Man of the Match for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-final.
Sancho, 24, was a cut above the rest on Wednesday evening as Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final clash.
The United loanee completed 12 take-ons, the most of any player in the last eight years at that stage of the competition.
He created three chances, including one ‘big chance’ for striker Niclas Füllkrug with a smart reverse pass behind the PSG defence.
Sancho’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain. He is currently on loan at the Bundesliga club until the end of the season but they want to keep him afterwards.
His performances would have likely generated some interest elsewhere when the summer transfer market came around.
Sancho spoke after the game on Wednesday to CBS and admitted that he’s unsure where his future lies.
“Obviously I came here at 17 and they gave me the opportunity for me to play my professional football,” said Sancho when asked about his connection with the Bundesliga club.
“So I’m just delighted with all of the staff and the players who have welcomed me back, and I always give it my everything in front of the fans.”
Then asked by former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel whether he will stay at Dortmund, Sancho responded: “Who me? I really don’t know, but I’m just focused on the present right now.”
Sancho and Dortmund will head to France for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on 7 May.
