Jadon Sancho backed for Manchester United success as first game back outlined
To the surprise of many, Manchester United announced last week that Jadon Sancho would be rejoining Erik ten Hag’s squad following talks with the Dutch manager.
Jadon Sancho, 24, spent the second half of the last campaign away from Manchester United following a spat with Erik ten Hag after the Dutch manager dropped him from a matchday squad against Arsenal.
Sancho has not touched a ball for United since the end of August last year, with Ten Hag citing poor performances in training as the reason why he was left out. Sancho retaliated with a public statement claiming this was not true, and as a result, he was banished from the squad and left to rejoin Borussia Dortmund for six months.

However, in a new twist, with many expecting the player to be sold this summer, he had a long conversation with Ten Hag, where both parties cleared the air. Sancho is now back in with the United team and has become fully involved in pre-season training.
Former United striker Michael Owen has now backed Sancho to succeed at United, having proved he can still be a top winger while at Dortmund last season.
“Jadon Sancho took a really risky move in many ways but almost an unavoidable one in going back to where he was to try to reignite that spark, and he’s done particularly well,” Owen told Prime Casino.
“I’m sure he probably would have preferred there to have been a change of manager at Old Trafford, so it was a clean slate, and he could come back and hopefully start again.
“I don’t know what his future holds, but he’s certainly gone away and proven that he can still cut it at the top level.”
Sancho was not involved with the squad during their first pre-season friendly of 2024 against Rosenborg but may be available for selection as the club travels to Scotland to face Rangers before they embark on a three-game tour of the USA.
If Sancho does not play against the Scottish outfit, he will almost certainly feature against Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The Rangers tie will also likely see the returns of André Onana, Amad Diallo, and Victor Lindelöf as the squad prepares for a big 2024/25 campaign.
