Jadon Sancho handed two options ex-Man United player after Erik ten Hag refute
Jadon Sancho’s disclusion from Manchester United’s matchday squad to face Arsenal caused a stir online after Erik ten Hag’s 3-1 loss.
Manchester United suffered a heartbreaking 3-1 loss against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, with late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus securing three points for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.
Jadon Sancho and Scott McTominay were not included in the matchday squad, and while McTominay was ill, Erik ten Hag explained after the game that Sancho wasn’t selected purely for selection reasons.

“On his performance in training we didn’t select him,” Ten Hag said on Sunday evening. “You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. You can make choices in the front line, so in this game, he wasn’t selected.”
After this was said, Sancho himself decided to release a statement, pleading with people to not believe everything they read.
“Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!
All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.
“I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
Of course, this statement then sent many fans and pundits alike into a swirl of speculation – and Rio Ferdinand has had his say.
The ex-United defender has issued two options to Sancho, insinuating that the English winger has backed himself into a corner.
“There’s no way Jadon’s putting out a statement like that if he hasn’t, in his own eyes, performed well,” Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube channel.
“On his chart, Jadon, ‘I’ve trained alright’. But the manager have a certain standard. There’s only one way this ends right now. Well, two ways.
“There’s only one window open and that’s Saudi. Or you’re on the bench or not getting in the squad for the rest of the season.”
