Jack Moorhouse receives “outstanding” praise from Leyton Orient boss, Man Utd fans will completely agree about “brilliant” attribute

Manchester United academy talent Jack Moorhouse scored his first professional goal on loan at Leyton Orient and Richie Wellens has issued big praise for the youngster.

It was a busy summer transfer window for Manchester United, who completed the signings of four first-team players, including Senne Lammens on deadline day.

The Reds also sanctioned several high-profile exits, such as Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea and Antony to Real Betis after it was made clear they were not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Another area where United were particularly busy was in the loans department, with plenty of exciting talent from the academy heading out to gain experience in the professional game.

Jonny Evans took control as the Head of Loans and Pathways this summer after retiring from football and United have sent 14 academy players out on loan for the season.

Moorhouse receives “outstanding” praise from Leyton Orient boss

Jack Moorhouse moved to League One outfit Leyton Orient last month and many United fans are hoping he can impress after shining in the Under-21s last season.

The midfielder has already made seven appearances for Orient and started three games, with his latest outing being the most promising.

On Tuesday evening, Moorhouse scored for The O’s in their 3-1 victory over Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy to top off a strong display.

It was a typical run from deep from the United loanee before he cut the ball onto his left-foot and found the bottom corner with precision to put his side into the lead.

Orient manager Richie Wellens spoke to club media after the game and praised Moorhouse for his “outstanding” performance and also highlighted his standout attribute.

“Jack Moorhouse has taken his time a little bit, [but] today you see… he could potentially be a top, top player,” Wellens, a former United academy player, said.

“And when you take a player like that, you’re always worried about second balls, physicality but we need to [think about] what’s he brilliant at.

“He’s brilliant at getting on the ball deep and making things happen, I thought he was outstanding.”

United fans agree about Moorhouse’s best attribute

United fans who have watched Moorhouse in the academy setup would not have been surprised to see how his first professional goal came about.

The way the 19-year-old runs with the ball is amazing to watch and some reports have suggested he’s viewed as one of the best ball-carriers in United’s ranks.

Getting the end product at the end of those runs is his next step and the way he finished against x, with his weak foot, suggests he’s heading in the right direction.

With the full support of Wellens, the United loanee will be hoping to build on his performances across the season at Brisbane Road.
