Marcus Rashford has detailed that Manchester United’s form is more than just luck as they gear up to return to Premier League action.

Manchester United‘s last three fixtures have been across two domestic cup competitions, with Erik ten Hag‘s men advancing into the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup fifth round.

United had a two-legged semi-final against Nottingham Forest in which a 5-0 aggregate victory saw themselves with a ticket to Wembley for the Carabao Cup final, while a 3-1 victory over Reading in the FA Cup fourth round advanced them to playing West Ham in round five.

Since the return of domestic football, Manchester United have played 12 fixtures in all competitions, winning 10, drawing one, and losing one – with their overall form being some of the best in Europe.

Speaking about Manchester United’s recent form and their future trajectory, Marcus Rashford has said that the team are putting themselves in a great position to win trophies.

“The games after Christmas come thick and fast. If you manage to get yourself on a run of winning games then it’s inevitable to find yourself in situations where you can win silverware,” he explained to Sky Sports.

United have the perfect chance to get Erik ten Hag off to a winning start as Manchester United manager with their place in the Carabao Cup final, with Rashford stating he believes United deserve to be in the position they have created for themselves.

“At the beginning of the season it’s the first thing that everyone wants, you want to win the first available trophy” he explained. That’s the Carabao Cup. I think we deserve to be there (the final).”

One significant part of Erik ten Hag’s reign so far is that when United have faced a tough test, they have emerged victorious on multiple occasions. This season, they have defeated Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League, which showcases their abilities.

The Liverpool victory in particular was a testament to the resilience Ten Hag is creating at the club, as it was off the back of United’s now infamous 2-1 and 4-0 losses to Brighton and Brentford, respectively.

“We’ve shown at our worst that we can beat the biggest teams,” said Rashford. “It’s not just luck. We’ve had good games against the best teams in the country. Liverpool, Arsenal this season.”

Marcus Rashford has been awarded the Premier League Player of the Month award for January.
