Manchester United suffer yet another hugely disappointing result at Old Trafford this season as Diogo Dalot scores his first Premier League goal at the Theatre of Dreams.
Despite winning at Selhurst Park for the first time in five years, Manchester United were unable to kick on from the away victory as they could only find a point at home to West Ham.
After a disastrous defeat to ten-man Everton the last time out at Old Trafford, this game was huge for Ruben Amorim’s men.
With a chance to move up to fifth in the league, the Red Devils could only score one and could not hold onto their lead, drawing with the Hammers and making it one point from the last two home games.
Tonight’s game saw the 22nd time West Ham had conceded the first goal away at Old Trafford in the Premier League, but the first time that they hadn’t lost the game, with 21 previous defeats from the same position.
Dalot’s post-match thoughts
At the full-time whistle, it was the goal scorer Diogo Dalot who was interviewed by Sky Sports, discussing United looking anxious despite going a goal up.
“It’s that solution that we need to find. I mean it can be various things. I mean it shouldn’t be like this because you’re you’re fighting 60 minutes to score a goal and then when it happens you should keep doing the same things…”
“Even more controlling a bit more longer possession so we can have more dominance especially on the on the rest defense when we lose the ball we are we are in good positions to recover it back.
“Like I said we especially the goal that the play that goes to the corner that we can see that I think that’s the type of plays that we need to avoid…”
“Especially against teams they are good on the counter and we knew today they were going to be looking for counterattacks and then set plays and except unfortunately we couldn’t couldn’t hold the result but in the end I think we have to look to ourselves that I think it’s our it’s more our fault and then then credit to West Ham.”
Is Amorim back under pressure?
After back-to-back poor performances at home, dropping huge points, and missing out both times on an opportunity to reach the top five of the table, the Portuguese boss must be ready to face the critics again, as doubts begin to resurface.
The past month has seen a significant drop in performance quality and results, leaving fans with nothing to be positive about.
Before the game against Nottingham Forest, most people would have predicted Man United to get at least 11 points from the next five matches; however, they have come away with just six points.

On the positive side, despite losing vital points at home, Man United are only two points off fourth, suggesting they are still in a decent position to secure European football next season.
The situation is not severe enough to call for the boss’ sacking just yet, but fans are well within their rights to doubt him, and with key players such as Amad and Bryan Mbeumo leaving soon for AFCON, concern is only growing among the fanbase.
