Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White was fuming with one ‘silly’ moment during their 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, with Amad netting a late equaliser.
United began brightly, taking the lead through Casemiro after a corner that appeared to have been incorrectly awarded. Amad and Benjamin Šeško both had opportunities to extend the lead before the break, while Forest posed a constant threat on the counter.
Ruben Amorim’s side were pegged back early in the second half as the hosts struck twice in quick succession to seize control of the game.
However, Amad produced a superb finish late on to level the score and came agonisingly close to snatching victory, seeing another effort cleared off the line in stoppage time.
Gibbs-White fuming with ‘silly’ moment during Forest vs United
Amorim has spoken about how United’s luck has changed recently and that might have been shown before the opening goal of the game.
After Bryan Mbeumo delivered a cross into the box, the ball was cleared and Nicolo Savona thought that he stopped the ball from going out for a corner.
The linesman decided to give a corner and then Casemiro scored from that set-piece, which frustrated Forest fans and players.
Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, who scored their first goal, stated that the decision ‘cost’ Forest two points on the day.
“We conceded two silly corners, I don’t think the first one was even a corner. From where I was standing, I was pretty far away, all the boys were saying at half-time the ball hadn’t gone out,” the midfielder told Sky Sports.
“It’s something that needs looking at because it has cost us two extra points today.”
United were actually the team who lost two points
In the latter stages of the game, United were denied a clear corner while Forest got one when the ball deflected off their own player. United’s one is only controversial because they took advantage of it.
The Reds will be more concerned with their defending early in that second half because that is actually what cost one of the teams two points.
After resolute defending for several weeks, it was disappointed to see United look so vulnerable in those moments but on the other hand, it was nice to see them come back in the game.
Amad’s equaliser was deserved and it was clearance off the line that stopped United from securing a comeback victory.
As everyone already knew, there are still many areas to improve for the Reds.
