“It comes down to him…” – Cole Palmer told Chelsea would green-light stunning move to Manchester United

A Chelsea legend has revealed that the London side would likely be open to selling their star man, even to a rival Premier League club like Manchester United.

Cole Palmer has been one of the Premier League’s best players in recent seasons, being highly rated by supporters and pundits around the globe. This campaign, Palmer has been plagued with injuries, which have limited gametime, and rumours have swirled about his unhappiness in London.

Manchester United have been linked to the Blues attacker. This story appeared during the January window, but was quickly dismissed when Liam Rosenior was appointed head coach, who claimed Palmer was more than happy at Stamford Bridge.

However, under Michael Carrick, United have found stability and are currently on a fantastic run of form that has put them in the running for Champions League qualification, making them a more attractive outfit for top players who may not have been interested in joining the Red Devils just a few months ago.

A former Stamford Bridge star has now revealed that he thinks the blockbuster move could be sanctioned by Chelsea, which could lead to a stunning transfer saga in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Pat Nevin reveals Chelsea would be willing to sell Palmer

Pat Nevin, a former Chelsea star who made 190+ appearances for the Blues, has revealed he thinks Chelsea would not be as protective of their star player as people think.

Nevin explained on BestBettingSites: “I don’t think it comes down to whether Chelsea would sell. They would.

“Would Manchester United want him? They probably would. Would the money be difficult? No, they would probably sort that out. Chelsea are a trading club. They bought Cole Palmer and they could sell him at a massive profit, and that’s what they do.

“The Chelsea fans would be gutted because they adore him, rightly so. There have been concerns about his consistency and his injuries. It just comes down to one thing. It doesn’t come down to the clubs, it comes down to him. Does Cole Palmer fancy playing for Manchester United? That’s it. Nobody knows except Cole Palmer.

“I’ve heard hints that he was a United fan as a kid. That’s a draw. When you look at what United are doing just now and how they’re playing, and the possibility that you might actually have stability at Manchester United, that becomes a temptation.

Nevin thinks Michael Carrick could be the key to signing Palmer

Nevin also added that a key part of the deal could be Michael Carrick securing the job at United permanently, after transforming the side and not losing a match so far in his interim reign.

“With Michael Carrick, it just feels like a different place. I’ve been at Old Trafford a lot of times over the last few years and it’s been a hard place to watch football sometimes. The feeling hasn’t even been ugly, just flat.

“Worse than anger is people being fed up, and you never want to see that at Manchester United because of the club it is, the history it has and the size it is. The Premier League needs a big Manchester United.

“I hope Michael Carrick gets the job long term. I think the group that’s in just now has already shown enough that they can lift the club. I hope they get the job for at least the next year after this season, whatever happens between now and the end of the season. I’d give them that. Would that be enough to tempt Cole? I wouldn’t be shocked.”
