“Issues…” – Lecce manager reveals Patrick Dorgu stance on Manchester United transfer, it speaks volumes about him
Lecce’s manager Marco Giampaolo has spoken about the ongoing interest in his player Patrick Dorgu from Manchester United.
Manchester United are interested in making signings this month to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad.
The most-needed position to bolster is at wingback, with the likes of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui struggling in the new role.
Patrick Dorgu is the clear target for United and the Reds have already had two proposals rejected for the 20-year-old.
It has been reported that they are going to come back in for the player but other targets are also being watched, such as Alvaro Fernandez.
Lecce manager explains Dorgu stance on transfer chase
Lecce’s manager Marco Giampaolo has been asked about the ongoing transfer chase for his talented player this week.
The Italian coach has stated that it is normal for big European clubs to be interested in a talented player like Dorgu.
But he also explains that, despite the distractions, the Danish international is still working hard behind the scenes and suggests there will be “no issues” created from it.
“Top European clubs want him so it’s normal to be affected at some point… but he’s very mature and serious guy,” Giampaolo explained.
“I don’t think transfer news are gonna create any issues, this week he’s been working very well.”
United transfer chase speaks volumes about Dorgu’s character
Reports beforehand have stated that Dorgu has an agreement with the club to let him go to a big club if the right offer comes in.
It speaks volumes about the 20-year-old and his character that he will refuse to be drawn into the drama and let it impact his performance on the training ground or in games.

A lot of players would start ‘downing tools’ if an offer from a club like United was rejected but he has shown that he’s not a player to do that.
Those are the kind of characters you want in your team and Amorim will be hoping a deal goes over the line.
