Manchester United icon Paul Parker has issued some huge praise for one ‘incredible’ star in Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Manchester United are currently unbeaten in their last four outings, which includes wins against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton.
The Reds had to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Nottingham Forest on the weekend after Amad and Casemiro scored for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Attention now turns to another away trip, this time to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur after their derby defeat to Chelsea.
United are looking threatening going forward at the moment, with several players starting to hit form after slow starts to the season.
United star receives huge praise from Parker
Amad produced a magical moment to equalise against Forest and he came close to scoring a winning goal in added time at the City Ground.
The Ivorian was criticised for his form in the first few games of the season but has looked very sharp at right wingback in recent weeks.
“Just incredible, how he’s grabbed [his opportunity],” Paul Parker told club media when discussing Amad. “How you see him play at wing-back and you go ‘wow’.
“And you see him want to run back and defend. Size doesn’t bother him, so I can relate to that. He’s not scared of anybody.
“He’ll compete with anybody. All you’ve got to do in football is compete. When, even me, every time I see him get the ball in the final third, I get out my seat watching him.”
Amorim will want Amad to keep growing
Amad’s intensity is one of his best attributes and, as Parker says, he is clearly not scared of any opponent he faces on the right flank.
While there are some criticisms of him playing at wingback, Amad does get many chances to drive at a fullback one-on-one in this system, which is perfect for him.
He is building a relationship with Bryan Mbeumo on that right side and those two players are not the kind of duo an opposition fullback would want to deal with.
Amorim will be hoping that Amad can keep improving his performances and providing quality for United on that flank going forward.
