“I’d take him…” Ian Wright berates Manchester United over Bruno Fernandes treatment with Arsenal claim

Ian Wright has slammed Manchester United over their treatment of their captain, Bruno Fernandes, following the Portuguese maestro’s revealing interview.

Manchester United parted ways with several of their attacking stars in the summer transfer window, and in a recent bombshell interview, Bruno Fernandes revealed that he was almost one of them.

The Portuguese midfielder stayed put at the Reds, however, and has since proven his worth to Ruben Amorim’s side, picking up three goals and two assists in his last two Premier League appearances.

United’s captain was recently interviewed by Portuguese outlet Canal 11, via The Standard, where he revealed that he felt as if he was not valued at the club.

Following Fernandes’ recent stellar form, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has spoken on the 31-year-old and has even berated the Red Devils over their treatment of their star.

Wright slams United

When speaking on The Overlap, via The Standard, Wright said that, “It comes back down to the Manchester United indecisiveness,” regarding the potential sale of their captain.

“Someone’s come in for Bruno, you shut that down. Because Bruno didn’t want to go. Bruno is saying they said to him, ‘Well, it’s up to you if you want to leave’.

“That’s not what you want to hear from someone like him who’s literally holding the club up himself.

“You want the club to say, ‘you’re not going nowhere, you’re a massive part of this’. But Man United didn’t do that. They gave him the opportunity to say, ‘if you want to stay, you can stay, if you want to go, you can go’.”

Wright advocates for Fernandes

Fernandes was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window, as well as the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, although nothing came to fruition.

Wright even added, “I would take him [at Arsenal] tomorrow,” when talking about the talented midfielder.

United’s captain has five goals and seven assists in 16 league games so far this season, which leaves him second for goal contributions behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Luckily for the Reds, their star man stayed put and rejected all approaches from Saudi Arabia in the summer, as who knows where they would be without him.
