Casemiro has revealed an important message that he has been telling his Manchester United teammates following the win over Manchester City.
Manchester United produced a dominant performance to secure a 2–0 victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
United controlled the contest from start to finish, with Michael Carrick’s side displaying defensive strength and a constant attacking threat throughout the match.
The Reds scored five times over the 90 minutes, though three goals were ruled out for marginal offside decisions. Despite this, goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu were enough to seal a vital and fully deserved win.
Lisandro Martínez was one of United’s standout performers, delivering a composed defensive display and keeping Erling Haaland quiet until his substitution in the 80th minute. Casemiro also impressed in midfield, dictating play, breaking up City’s attacks, and earning the Man of the Match award for his influential performance.
Casemiro reveals important message he’s told United teammates
Casemiro has won almost everything there is to win in football but he still looks so desperate to taste victory at Old Trafford. He was out of the team last season but has come back and become an important player once again.
He has explained that he has reiterated to his teammates in the dressing room just how ‘important’ it is to play for a club like United.
“I’m enjoying it and I try to convey that to all the players in the locker room: the importance of playing for United. It’s very difficult to get here,” he told ESPN Brasil.
This is also a message that Carrick clearly agrees with after the United boss explained earlier in the week how he is responsible for shaping the culture behind-the-scenes at Carrington.
“Part of my role and responsibility is shaping what we want to look like going forward. What happens on the pitch is one thing but certainly the culture as well, how we think, how we act, how we behave, what it means for us to be here, is part of my responsibility,” he said.
Casemiro loves playing for United
Casemiro spoke further on his admiration for United after the win over City, and claimed that they are the biggest club in the world alongside his former side Real Madrid.
“I enjoy the moment very much,” he added. “I play for United, the biggest club in England. So, for me, it’s the greatest pride.
“I have the pleasure of saying this. I played for the biggest in Spain. Maybe they are the 2 biggest clubs in the world, in terms of greatness.”
The experienced midfielder still clearly has more to give United before his contract expires this summer and he will be hoping to keep making an impact this season.
