One pundit on MUTV made sure to reserve praise for an ‘aggressive’ Manchester United star following his performance against Sunderland.
Manchester United ended their latest stretch of fixtures on a high with a commanding 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
First-half goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Šeško sealed the victory for the Reds on Saturday, sending the club into the October international break with renewed confidence and momentum.
The match also marked a memorable debut for Senne Lammens. The Belgian goalkeeper, signed on deadline day last summer, impressed with his calm presence—dealing well with crosses, making several confident saves, and earning a clean sheet.
Despite a challenging start to the season under Amorim, the result against Sunderland has provided a much-needed boost, helping to reset the mood and belief within the squad ahead of the two-week break.
MUTV pundit praises ‘aggressive’ United star
There were several standout players during that clash and Amad was one of the best. He was probably United’s best outfield player on the day.
The 23-year-old constantly provided danger on the right flank and it was something that led to praise from MUTV pundit Ben Thornley.
Thornley said: “Amad was key for the way that we needed to attack this game, and that’s exactly what happened.
“I thought that Masuaku, he panicked every time that Amad picked up the ball.
“He could have had a goal himself. He didn’t, but he was a constant threat, and it just shows what he can he can bring to this team.
“I love watching him, I really do. And he’s aggressive as well. He doesn’t just do the silky stuff. He’s prepared to put in the hard yards and go in where it hurts. And I love that.”
Amad shuts down recent critics
Amad started the season slowly and suddenly many fans had forgotten how he was one of the only bright sparks for the team last season.
Things would have been even worse without the Ivorian and his ability is clear to see. That performance against Sunderland was a reminder of his quality and to have patience with players.
There is a completely new dynamic on the right side with Bryan Mbeumo and the two players are developing that connection. It is understandable there will be teething issues.
But even when Amad is not playing amazing, he still brings that tenacity and energy which you want from any player out of form.
His performance against Sunderland shut down the critics from the previous weeks and he will be aiming to continue building his form and connection with Mbeumo going forward.
