Amad has given a simple seven-word message in response when asked about the future of Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United.
Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave Manchester United this summer after struggling to settle under Rúben Amorim and being involved in several off-field issues.
The gifted 20-year-old winger doesn’t fit naturally into Amorim’s 3-4-3 setup, and with Matheus Cunha poised to arrive as United’s new left-sided forward, a departure now appears to suit all sides.
United are reportedly open to offers in the region of £60 million, with several clubs expressing interest. Napoli were close to securing a deal in January as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Chelsea have maintained an interest in Garnacho since early 2024.
In recent days, reports have also broken that Erik ten Hag would be keen on bringing the winger to Bayer Leverkusen on loan for a season.
Amad issues thoughts on possible Garnacho sale
Garnacho is well known to have struck up a very close relationship with Amad both on and off the field, with the pair two of the most talented young wingers in England.
However, their futures seem at opposite ends of the scale, with Amorim reportedly telling Garnacho he must “pray” he can find a new club this summer while seeing Amad as one of the most integral parts of his current squad.
Speaking with the press ahead of United’s second post-season friendly against Hong Kong in Hong Kong, China, Amad explained that he hopes Garnacho stays as “we need good players in the team.”
“Alejandro is a really good player, and we need good players in the team,” Amad said on Thursday afternoon. “I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season. It is not really a big issue for the team. Everything is good now.”
Amorim is continuing to be coy in his response
Garnacho’s presence on tour has continued to somewhat baffle those observing, considering the head coach’s clear stance on the winger’s future.

Previously, if Amorim has deemed a player surplus to requirements, such as Antony and Marcus Rashford, he has excluded them from squads.
However, the 40-year-old maintained that, despite rumours, it is “not a surprise” that Garnacho continues to be part of the team, as he is a player under contract to United.
“It is not a surprise,” Amorim said. “He is a player of Manchester United, all the players are here. Some players are injured, and it was better for them not to fly here to play these two games. It is a normal situation.”
