“I feel…” – Diogo Dalot breaks silence on Patrick Dorgu signing and Manchester United competition
Diogo Dalot scored for Manchester United against FCSB and is ready for the challenge of fighting for a place in the team against Patrick Dorgu.
Manchester United secured a comfortable 2-0 win over FCSB in their final Europa League group-stage match on Thursday night, advancing to the round of 16.
Ruben Amorim’s side dominated throughout, securing a third consecutive victory for the first time this season. Despite controlling possession and creating chances, United couldn’t break the deadlock before halftime.
Alejandro Garnacho and Amad were introduced after the break, injecting urgency and pace. Garnacho hit the post early, and Amad played a key role in the opener. His quick throw-in found Christian Eriksen, who set up Kobbie Mainoo to cross for Diogo Dalot’s tap-in.
Mainoo then doubled the lead, finishing calmly from Garnacho’s cross. United remained in control, played attractive football, and secured a clean sheet.

United are also set to strengthen their squad before the January transfer deadline, with Patrick Dorgu heading to Manchester over the weekend to complete his medical.
The Reds have agreed a £25 million fee for the transfer of the exciting player who is expected to play at left wingback for Amorim’s side.
After the game on Thursday, Dalot was asked by The United Stand about the prospect of increased competition for places after Dorgu completes his move to the club.
The 25-year-old welcomed the challenge and claimed that competition for places should be the norm at Old Trafford.
“It’s been my whole life at this club – competing,” the defender responded. “Nobody comes to Manchester United and thinks there isn’t going to be competition for positions.
“I feel pretty comfortable on both sides, obviously when you start playing a lot of games in the same position you start to become even more comfortable.
“Overall, I’m here to help and I think the manager already knows the profile of player I am, I’m ready to help the team, be in my best possible shape and when the time comes to try to give my best.”
Dalot has the right mentality
Dalot gets a lot of criticism from United fans, especially this season as he continues to play out of position, but his mentality is definitely the right one.
The right-back has been one of the only ever-present players over the last two years, and many forget that he won the club’s Player of the Year award last season.
Dorgu signing for the club could also improve his situation as he could move back to the right side more often, where he looks more comfortable.
