Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest on Antony’s potential summer transfer after meeting the Manchester United forward this week.
Manchester United decided to send Antony on loan in the January transfer window due to his limited role at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim.
The Brazilian winger joined Spanish club Real Betis and has since had an incredible turnaround. The 25-year-old has six goals and four assists in 19 appearances.
He has also stood out in the Europa Conference League, with three goals and two assists in seven games, including a rocket against Fiorentina in the first-leg of the semi-final this week.
Antony’s strong performances on loan is great news for United, who will be looking to try and sell him in the summer transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano reveals latest Antony transfer detail
There have been plenty of rumours surrounding Antony in recent weeks and Fabrizio Romano has come out to clarify the latest on the situation.
Romano uploading images of him alongside the United loanee before the Fiorentina clash on Thursday night and clarified that the club’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, was also in attendance.
Vivell was looking at potential targets – Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso has been linked with the Reds – but also keeping an eye on Antony during his successful loan spell.
“I had the chance to meet with Antony, it was a big pleasure, in Seville before the game. A beautiful performance by Antony, a beautiful goal with his right foot,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“One thing I can tell you is that last night in Seville there was Manchester United co-director Christopher Vivell in attendance to follow players, as he always does, but also to monitor the situation of Antony.”
However, Romano has also explained that there will be no decision on the future of the loanee until both clubs are done with their European campaigns, but does add that Betis are desperate to keep him.
“We have to patient as Manchester United are fighting to win the Europa League, Betis are fighting to win the Conference League. Nothing will be decided now,” he added.
“Both clubs are really focused on the present and then after the outcome of European competitions we will understand more. But, for sure, the desire at Betis is to do everything possible to keep Antony at the club. They will make an effort.”
United will want Antony bidding war
The only problem with Betis is that it is well-known that they do not have huge finances and might not be able to afford to pay upwards of £30 million and Antony’s wages.

Perhaps things could change if they are able to win the Conference League or even qualify for the Champions League through their La Liga finish.
On the other hand, clubs like Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in the Brazilian winger and they would have the cash to put on the table for United.
The best scenario for the Reds would be to see multiple clubs coming in for the winger to hopefully drive up his price, and that isn’t out of the question considering his form in Spain.
