“I can confirm…” – Fabrizio Romano provides interesting update on Man Utd managerial situation as Sunderland point made

Fabrizio Romano has provided an interesting update on the managerial situation at Manchester United ahead of their clash with Sunderland.

Manchester United have won just two of their first seven games this season, with those results coming against Chelsea and Burnley.

Ruben Amorim’s team needed the benefit of an early red card and a late penalty to secure those victories.

Following a poor campaign last year, United were desperate to begin strongly, but they have fallen short once again.

The 3-1 defeat at Brentford has intensified the spotlight on Amorim, raising doubts about his methods and whether he can guide the club back on course.

Romano’s interesting update on United managerial situation

United face Sunderland this weekend at Old Trafford and there is then a two-week international break. A period which is well-known to be linked with managers losing their jobs.

Some fans believe dropping points against the newly promoted side could be enough for Amorim to receive the sack but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that those in charge at Old Trafford are not thinking about this at the moment.

“Manchester United have not prepared anything in case they lose against Sunderland,” the Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel.

“Man United don’t have an agreement with another coach, Man United have not officially contacted any other coach, Man United are not in direct conversations with Gareth Southgate despite the reports.

“The situation is still the same, focus on the games, support Ruben Amorim and try to get results. United have not prepared something if they lose against Sunderland on the weekend.”

Xavi eager for Premier League move

There appear to be several options for United if they do end up sacking Amorim and one of those is former Barcelona player and manager Xavi Hernandez.

Romano clarified that the Spaniard will not be taking charge at Al-Ittihad and that he would ‘love’ to work in the Premier League and is ready to return to management soon.

“Xavi will not go to Al-Ittihad, for Xavi Hernandez, the Premier League remains an ideal destination,” continued Romano.

“Xavi, I can confirm to you, would love to work in the Premier League one day – if that day is as soon as possible, Xavi would be very happy about that. Xavi feels ready.”
