“I am going to give…” Chris Sutton names Man Utd goalscorer vs Wolves amid “miserable” score prediction (Premier League)

Chris Sutton has issued a “miserable” score prediction for Manchester United’s Premier League tie against Wolves as he predicts Rúben Amorim’s lone scorer.

Manchester United are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, welcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford.

Rúben Amorim’s last match saw United pull off a sensational 7-6 aggregate win over Olympique Lyonnais at Old Trafford, securing a spot in the Europa League semi-finals, where they will face Athletic Bilbao.

Amorim will also be looking for revenge against Vitor Pereira’s Wolves, who triumphed 2-0 over United in December, thanks to goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan.

The 40-year-old manager will hope his players can carry the momentum from that dramatic win over Lyon into their return to domestic competition.

Sutton issues “miserable” United vs Wolves prediction

Despite United’s stunning Lyon comeback against Lyon, former Premier League striker Chris Sutton does not have high hopes for the fixture on Sunday afternoon. However, he does tip Bruno Fernandes to notch at Old Trafford.

“Wolves have already beaten Manchester United once this season and, on current form, they are favourites this time too,” Sutton told BBC Sport.

“Vitor Pereira’s side are flying with four straight wins, and we know how inconsistent United are.

“I am going to give Bruno Fernandes a goal, because he has been one of the few United players who can hold their head up high with their performances this season, but at the moment, Wolves look well-balanced, and they are the better team.

“United’s whole campaign is still hanging on what happens in the Europa League, and we will have to wait and see whether their incredible late comeback to beat Lyon on Thursday to reach the semi-finals changes anything about their awful Premier League form.

“I am sorry to say this, but I am expecting their fans to have another miserable afternoon at Old Trafford, where they have already lost more league games (seven) than they have won (six) this season.”

Sutton went on to explain that he felt the tie would end with Amorim’s side finding themselves with a 3-1 loss at their own ground, with Wolves therefore achieving a double against United.

Amorim set to play the kids vs Wolves

While many United fans may feel offended that such a tragic loss is predicted straight after their stunning win over Lyon, it’s important to note that this fixture is set to be entirely unpredictable.

“I think we will have to be really focused on the Europa League,” the United boss told TNT Sports on Thursday evening. “And we will have to take a risk sometimes with the kids in the Premier League.

“We have to be tough on that, and the fans have to understand that we have to focus on the Europa League.”

With Amorim looking to play an unorthodox starting team that could feature many Academy players, it would be unwise to back any scoreline on Sunday afternoon.
