How much Manchester United could make from Mason Greenwood transfer as Marseille receive blockbuster offer
Manchester United sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille in the summer transfer window and he has since been excelling in France.
Manchester United suspended Mason Greenwood in January 2022 after he was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault, and coercive control after videos and voice recordings surfaced on social media.
Greenwood denied all charges and in early 2023, the charges were dropped due to the withdrawal of key witnesses and new evidence that undermined the likelihood of a conviction.
United then conducted their own internal investigation into the player, and concluded that it would be best for his to continue his career away from Old Trafford.
He was initially sent on a loan move to La Liga club Getafe in the summer of 2023 and after scoring 10 goals and registering six assists for the Spanish outfit, he made a permanent move to France to join Marseille for a reported £25 million.
How much United could make from Greenwood transfer
According to a new report from Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on the Marseille forward and have made a formal offer to their Ligue 1 counterpart.
It was claimed that the French giants are willing to spend around £62 million on Greenwood, who has already scored 15 goals this season.
However, the deal which United made with the French club last year included a 50 per cent sell-on clause that would provide United with half of any fee Marseille receive for the 23-year-old.
That means that if Marseille were to accept the current offer from PSG for the forward, United would receive around £31 million as part of the deal, as per the report.
It is no secret that United are desperate to generate cash for Ruben Amorim this summer, with the head coach in need of signings for his underperforming squad at Old Trafford.
United will likely sell players such as Marcus Rashford and Antony while they’re also set to receive £25 million from Chelsea for Jadon Sancho.

However, it would be a significant financial boost for the club if they were able to receive more than £30 million through a move for Greenwood, especially since that figure would still be considered as ‘pure profit’ on the books.
