“Hopefully…” Chido Obi reveals exactly what he wants Ruben Amorim to see during Man Utd’s summer tour

Manchester United starlet Chido Obi has made it clear that he wants to impress Ruben Amorim during the club’s summer tour.

Chido Obi is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in English football, with the 17-year-old Dane widely tipped to become a future star on the world stage.

He made a high-profile and somewhat controversial switch from Arsenal to Manchester United at the age of 16 last year — a move that attracted significant media attention due to his immense potential.

After turning 17, Obi signed his first professional contract with the club and, soon afterwards, he became part of Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad.

The teenager made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in February and has since totalled up eight appearances for the first-team, including one start against Brentford.

Obi has been included on United’s post-season tour in Asia and is expected to travel to the United States later this summer too.

Obi reveals what he wants Amorim to see on tour

Obi has made his ambitions this summer clear, with the young striker hoping to impress Amorim with his performances in these friendly games.

Of course, the Danish youth international wants to get on the scoresheet, but he also wants to try and build connections with the first-team regulars – something which is crucial for goalscorers.

“My aim is to build relationships with other teammates and to hopefully score goals,” the 17-year-old talent told club media this week.

“[I want] to have a very good performance and hopefully impress the coach.”

United face the ASEAN All-Stars on Wednesday afternoon in Malaysia before heading to Hong Kong, China for their second post-season friendly.

There will then be a month-long break before the Reds start their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign during their pre-season tour of the United States.

United youngsters want to impress Amorim

Obi is not the only youngster trying to impress in the coming days, with several other youth team talents involved in the tour.

The standout name for many is Shea Lacey – a tricky right-winger who has been spoken of highly in the Academy setup for a number of years.

But there are other exciting players too, such as Jack Moorhouse, Tyler Fletcher and Dan Armer. They will all be looking to offer a surprise.

After seeing Obi and Harry Amass emerge as first-team regulars last term, the group will be desperate to be the next player to try and cement their place in Amorim’s plans.
