“He’s very frustrated…” – Bryan Mbeumo’s coach breaks silence on Manchester United transfer difficulties

The assistant coach of Cameroon has broken his silence on Bryan Mbeumo’s potential move to Manchester United and the difficulties surrounding a deal.

Manchester United remain in ongoing discussions as they pursue what could be their third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, with Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo firmly on their radar.

Ruben Amorim is determined to further strengthen his attacking options after bringing Cunha into the squad, but talks with Brentford have been sluggish.

An initial £55 million offer for the 25-year-old was turned down in early June, and a second proposal—matching that fee with an additional £7.5 million in performance-based add-ons—was also rejected.

Both Mbeumo and Brentford are reportedly growing frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations and that has been confirmed by one of the player’s coaches.

Cameroon assistant coach, Ashu Cyprian Besong, has recently revealed that Mbeumo is ‘very frustrated’ with the length of time this deal is taking.

He also explained that Mbeumo is still waiting for an agreement and that he remains grateful to Brentford for all they have done for him.

“Yes, obviously he’s very frustrated with how long it’s taken. But he’s a professional and anticipates these things,” Besong told Telecom Asia.

“I spoke to him about a week ago and he is very calm with everything that is going on. But of course, he’s already told them he wants to go to United.

“He just wanted the two clubs to find an agreement, as he’s very grateful for the opportunity that he’s been given by Brentford in his career.”

Brentford are not easy negotiators

The first major deal this summer, which does not include a release clause, is causing difficulties and that is partly because Brentford are shrewd operators.

The West London side are smart and know how to negotiate. For the new leadership team at Old Trafford, they would have likely preferred an easier kind of deal.

When Ivan Toney and David Raya left the Gtech Community Stadium, those deals were not easy for the clubs which bought them and Brentford have only reached a stronger position since then.

United will still hope to reach an agreement with the Bees but it has been far from easy for them.
