“He’s the main man…” Amad reveals all about life under Michael Carrick at Manchester United

Amad has revealed the details of what life has been like for himself and his Manchester United teammates under the management of Michael Carrick.

Manchester United look like a side revitalised under the new management of former midfielder Michael Carrick, who has remained unbeaten throughout his first five matches in charge.

Carrick has managed his side to four wins in five, as well as 13 points from a possible 15, which has left the Reds fourth in the Premier League standings, one point above Chelsea in fifth.

Under the previous management of Ruben Amorim, Amad was restricted to a more defensive role, which limited his attacking potential, although he is now back in a more traditional position as a right-winger.

With the Reds now setting up in a 4-2-3-1 system, the Ivorian international has now adopted a more attacking role, which he is seemingly enjoying. He has spoken more about life under Carrick to the club’s media team.

Amad on life under Carrick

Speaking to the United media team, via the club’s website, Amad said, “I think having Michael Carrick as head coach in the team is very important because he knows the club.

“He’s the main man who can tell us [about] the club we are playing for. Before the games, he keeps telling us: you guys, you are playing for yourself, but you’re playing also for the fans, and he’s telling us the fans are very important for us.

“We are also playing for the fans because we want to win and we want to give them something back.

“Having Carrick is very enjoyable, and we enjoy the training. He’s a nice guy. He talks with everyone, and I’m so lucky because I know him already – he was here when I arrived, when I was 18.

“I also played against him when he was in the Championship, so I know him since a long time and he’s a nice guy.”

United’s new ‘fight’

United’s young winger continued giving an insight into what it has been like playing under Carrick, even highlighting the ‘fight’ that has been installed into them.

“It’s very important as a player to have people around who know the club, who know exactly what this club means for them,” he stated.

“They keep telling us what it really means, so that is very important. And when we go to the pitch, we want to fight for them. So that’s important to have people like this.”

It is amazing to see that the spirit within the United camp is at an all-time high, with the player’s clearly understanding what it means to be a player at such a historic club.
