Academy graduate Anthony Elanga thanks Manchester United fans in his farewell note as he joins Nottingham Forest on a permanent move.

The 21-year-old who joined Manchester United in 2014 leaves for United’s Premier League rivals for a £15 million transfer fee. Anthony Elanga featured prominently in the playing 11 in the 2021-22 season but fell out of the ranks when Erik ten Hag took over for the 2022-23 season.

After his move was confirmed, the Swede turned to Instagram to thank the fans for their support and reflected on his time at Old Trafford. The youngster is also a winner of the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year Award, which he won in 2020.

Anthony Elanga reminisced about his debut for United and his equalizer against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

“Making my debut, playing over 50 times for the first team, scoring in the Champions League and winning a trophy for this incredible club…. If you told me that all of that would happen when I arrived in England at 11 years old I would have been buzzing.

Making a heartwarming point, the Swedish international also extended his gratitude for the players and the staff for aiding him in achieving his dreams while playing for the Red Devils.

“There are so many players and staff that have played a major role in helping to make those dreams become a reality and supported me into developing into the man that I am today. I will be forever grateful to each and every one of you.

“We’ll always have ‘Rhythm is a dancer’. It meant the world to me and my family every time that we heard that chant. There are not enough words to properly thank you for the unbelievable support.

“It is the right time now for the perfect next step in my career. I’m someone who lives for football and I need to be on the pitch every week doing what I love.,” Elanga wrote on Instagram.

Elanga slowly lost his place in the squad in the latter part of the season and wasn’t even included in the squad. With the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony, Rashford, Garnacho, and possibly Amad Diallo, it would have been difficult for Elanga to break into the squad the next season.
