“He reminds me…” – Gary Neville explains exactly why Ruben Amorim loves ‘perfect’ Manchester United star

Gary Neville has explained exactly why Ruben Amorim loves one Manchester United player he has described as ‘perfect’ for the system.

Manchester United have had a mixed start to the season but will want to build momentum following their impressive win against Liverpool at Anfield on the weekend.

With upcoming games against Brighton and Nottingham Forest, the Reds will be hoping that they can get some more wins under their belt to move higher up the Premier League table.

It seems like some players are beginning to find their form, with all four summer signings looking impressive in recent games.

Ruben Amorim also appears impressed with other players in his squad, including Mason Mount, who is finally showing his best form at Old Trafford.

Neville issues praise for Mount

Mount, 26, has experienced injury problems since he joined the club from Chelsea but he is starting to become an important player for Amorim.

While the Englishman is not as prolific as someone like Bryan Mbeumo, he performs an important tactical role for the Reds whenever he is on the pitch.

Gary Neville believes that role is similar to what Ji-Sung Park offered under Sir Alex Ferguson, which is significant praise for the current United star.

Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast this week, Neville said: “Do you know what I think about Mount? He reminds me, say, Darren Anderton or Adam Lallana, Ji-Sung Park, maybe a little bit.

“Players who do that sort of ugly bit well, but they also connect and glue things with, like, he starts the press.”

Why Amorim loves Mount

Amorim has previously described Mount as the ‘perfect’ player for his system and that he loves him, and Neville’s comparison explains exactly why that is.

Mount will never be the best player on the team but his contribution in certain situations can be extremely important. Out of possession, he leads the press and can almost act as two players.

He has a high tactical understanding and will do any job asked of him on the pitch, which is always a massive plus for any manager to have.

United’s best frontline on paper is Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško and Mbeumo, but Mount will continue to get game-time under Amorim this season because of those factors mentioned.
