Harry Maguire and his Manchester United teammates bounced back after a disappointing performance against Newcastle to win 2-1 against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Reds needed to produce a reaction, and that’s exactly what they did. Erik ten Hag’s side produced arguably their best performance of the season.

Scott McTominay’s brace secured the three points – now meaning that United are just three points away from fourth-placed Manchester City – however, there were many players deserving of praise.

Harry Maguire played an important part in the defence yet again, with the defender making several important blocks and interceptions throughout the game.

After full-time, the England international took to Instagram to send a message to the Old Trafford supporters.

“The reaction we needed – Old Trafford was rocking,” he wrote. “See you all Saturday.”

In front of Maguire was Sofyan Amrabat, and the loan signing produced his best performance since joining the club.

The 27-year-old has been criticised in recent weeks for his impact, yet he revealed after the game that he was playing with an injury concern in the early stages of the season.

“I started [the season] with an injury, and normally you need some time to adapt. But there was no time, the team needed me, so I had to jump in immediately,” he told club media.

“I’m a fighter, I will never say no when the manager needs me.”

The United manager has also been impressed with the Moroccan’s performance of late, saying: “He is progressing, he is adapting, he is more comfortable. Last week against Galatasaray, he also played well. Tonight, too.”
