Harry Maguire injury news as Ruben Amorim forced into Manchester United change vs Fulham
Harry Maguire was forced to exit Manchester United’s FA Cup defeat against Fulham with what appeared to be an injury.
Manchester United started the FA Cup clash well but could not find any sort of danger in the final third with a lack of pace in their attacking line.
On the turn of the half, Ruben Amorim’s side conceded a poor goal – once again from a corner – and had a lot of work to do going into the second half.
The reaction wasn’t immediate and instead the Old Trafford crowd were getting frustrated by the lack of intensity from the United team.
But when United have needed someone to step up this season, it was Bruno Fernandes who provided the much-needed quality to score an equaliser, meeting Diogo Dalot’s low cross expertly.
The Reds then seemed to wake up and they created several chances in the dying stages of normal time but were unable to convert and ultimately lost the tie on penalties.
Maguire suffers injury during United vs Fulham
Ayden Heaven was introduced into the game for his debut at the beginning of extra-time, with Harry Maguire being replaced.
It was noted by several journalists that Maguire was struggling at the end of the 90 minutes with what looked to be an injury.
The English defender had played 90 minutes in all of United’s latest five games leading into this clash and now could be a concern heading into the Europa League clashes against Real Sociedad in the round-of-16.
Amorim admitted that it is a “tough moment” for United when asked about Maguire coming off injured. The defender is likely set to undergo tests on Monday morning.
“We’ll see. We’ll see. I have to see how is Harry Maguire. We will see. It’s a tough moment in that aspect, but we have to move on. It will be a competitive team on Thursday,” he said.
The United boss is set to provide the latest team news ahead of United’s Europa League clash against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
