Harry Amass: Man Utd defender’s stance on Aston Villa interest revealed
Manchester United defender Harry Amass is attracting interest from Aston Villa and his stance has been revealed.
17-year-old Harry Amass, who impressed during Manchester United’s pre-season tour last summer, has yet to make his first-team debut.
United have been without a natural left-back since February, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured, but so far have decided against introducing Amass to the frame.
He has made numerous appearances on the bench and will be hoping to take to the pitch in the coming weeks as a busy schedule opens up for the Reds.
According to a recent report from TEAMtalk, Aston Villa are reportedly considering a surprising move for the young left-back amid his limited opportunities at Old Trafford.
United secured Amass’s signature in the summer of 2023 from Watford, beating Villa and several other top Premier League clubs to land the highly-rated prospect.
Since joining, Amass has showcased his talent in United’s youth ranks, playing a key role in the U18s’ treble-winning campaign and standing out for the U21s this term.
The report notes that United are not open to entertaining offers for Amass. However, Villa, long-time admirers of the teenager, are said to be closely monitoring his situation and weighing up a potential approach to bring him to Birmingham.
Now, new information from social media insider unitedsc0ut claims that Villa have told Amass’ camp of their interest.
However, it was added that wants to wait to see what his role will be under new head coach Rúben Amorim, and his preference is to stay at Old Trafford.
That seems like a sensible decision, with Amorim well known for utilising young talent and his use of the 3-4-3 formation opens up further possibilities at left wingback.
Amass is still only 17, but we have seen with the progression of Geovany Quenda – Sporting’s right wingback at the same age – that Amorim could put trust in him if he proves himself.
