“Go back to Manchester United” – Club legend rips into Rúben Amorim loanee after league loss
One of Manchester United’s January loanees has been ripped into following a 3-0 league loss on the weekend, which speaks volumes about his transfer future.
Manchester United’s January transfer window saw a whole host of players leave on loan while the club only brought in a select few reinforcements.
First-team players Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Ethan Wheatley left on loan for the remainder of the season, while the club also shipped out several Academy stars on temporary contracts to hand them first-team minutes.
However, the club failed to compensate for the attacking trio that departed, with left wing-back Patrick Dorgu being the only significant signing, although young centre-back Ayden Heaven also joined from Arsenal.
United have suffered from a lack of goals as well as a leaky defence in the last few months, and many fans feel that the club did not do enough to ensure Amorim had the tools to succeed for the rest of this campaign.
Malacia ripped into for shocker performance
While Antony and Rashford have been praised for their positive performances in the last month, the same fate has not befallen Malacia during his loan at PSV Eindhoven.
The Dutch left-back was ripped into by PSV legend Rene Van de Kerkhof for his bad defending during a 3-2 loss against Go Ahead Eagles on the weekend.
“Against Go Ahead on Saturday, all three goals conceded were big mistakes in the defence,” Van de Kerkhof told the Omroep Brabant podcast via Voetbal Zone.
“A Malacia like that is really a bad buy. I don’t want to see him again!
“He should just go back to Manchester United, get rid of him. You can also blame technical director Earnest Stewart for that, he should have taken a closer look at him.”
Poor performances are bad for market value
Malacia’s loan to PSV also has a buy option of around £8.3 million, with the initial expectation that the Dutch club would activate this to secure the 25-year-old permanently at the end of the season.
However, if his performances continue, it’s unlikely this will be triggered, which is bad for his market value. PSV’s 7-1 loss against Arsenal on Tuesday evening will not help, either.
United only need to sell Malacia for a minimum of £3.75 million in order to record his sale as profit as per the profit and sustainability rules, but the club will be hoping his value will be much higher.
However, if PSV deem the player as not worth the £8.3 million option in his contract, this means United will have to work harder to sell him for even less this summer.
