Erik ten Hag has been told he must sell Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho in order to avoid embarrassment at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho has been banished from all Manchester United first-team activities after he claimed Erik ten Hag was ‘scapegoating’ him for the team’s poor performances at the beginning of the season.

Ten Hag dropped Jadon Sancho from the squad to face Arsenal at the beginning of September, citing poor training as the reason, with the player releasing a statement on social media that evening, but after he refused to apologise to the Dutch manager, he was barred from any and all first-team activities, including training and eating with the senior squad.

It is a situation that has been a hot talking point throughout the first five months of the campaign, and former United striker Dwight Yorke believes it has hit the point where Ten Hag must sell Sancho in order to make sure he does not become ’embarrassed’ by the situation.

“Sancho shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team, and he shouldn’t mingle with the first team. I wouldn’t allow it if I were in charge,” Yorke told Stocklytics.io.

“Man United are going through a tough spell right now, and they shouldn’t have to deal with the Sancho situation on top of it. The manager has to sort those situations out, and he needs to do what he needs to do to make sure he saves his own back and is not embarrassed.

“If that’s the case with Sancho, then I’d get rid of him and keep him away from the dressing room. I wouldn’t want him there if he’s still pals with the players who are in my squad. Players can be friends with whoever they want to be outside of the training ground, but if I’m trying to get the best out of my squad, then I wouldn’t want him around.”

Sancho has been linked heavily with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus in recent months, as well as being admired by those at RB Leipzig – but United reportedly want £40-50 million for the player, which has caused a sticking point in multiple negotiations.
