Gary Neville predicts ‘really good’ Man Utd star will be dropped for Benjamin Šeško against Crystal Palace

Gary Neville has predicted that one Manchester United forward will have to slip out of the starting XI to make room for Benjamin Šeško against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United managed to bounce back from their disappointing draw against West Ham United on Monday night, as they downed a resolute Everton side 1-0.

Michael Carrick’s side made it 16 points from a possible 18, thanks to Benjamin Šeško’s late strike, which has ultimately taken them up to fourth in the Premier League.

Šeško’s well-taken finish was his third goal in four games, all three helping secure United’s five points. Even more impressively, the Slovenian has started as a substitute in all of these fixtures.

United’s new super-sub has certainly made a bid to his manager that he deserves a start for when the Reds host Crystal Palace on Sunday, with Gary Neville predicting whose spot he will take.

Neville predicts Amad to drop out

Speaking to Sky Sports via Man Utd News, the former United right-back said he thinks Šeško will start the game against the Eagles on Sunday, with Amad dropping to the bench.

He said, “For Šeško now, I think Michael Carrick starts him on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

“His confidence is high, and I think now Carrick starts him. Just feeling how Michael would look at that, I think it would kill the lad if he didn’t start.

“I think you will see [Matheus] Cunha to the left, [Bryan] Mbeumo to the right, and Šeško will go up top. I think Amad will slip out for a game. He has been really good, but I think Šeško starts on Sunday.”

Šeško’s time to shine

With three incredibly important goals off the bench for the Reds recently, it would be incredibly harsh if Šeško wasn’t rewarded with a start against Palace on Sunday.

Against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, Carrick’s side seemed to thrive on playing Mbeumo centrally, though against more resolute opponents this hasn’t worked as effectively.

Against both West Ham and Everton, United have struggled to break down their opponents, with their eventual breakthroughs coming thanks to the athletic prowess of their 22-year-old striker.

Although it could be argued that Šeško is more effective coming off the bench against tired legs, it is about time that his impressive cameos warrant him a start under Carrick.
