Gary Neville left amazed by Manchester United star after impressive rise under Michael Carrick

After a big win this weekend, a former Manchester United captain has spoken out about one player who has changed dramatically in the last two games.

A shock exit from former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has seen Michael Carrick brave the task as interim head coach, and so far, he’s proving to be the perfect man for the job.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, Carrick has won two big fixtures: a derby-day victory putting two goals ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, and a 3-2 triumph against Arsenal, which has helped to put United 4th in the Premier League standings, with Champions League football seeming more tangible than ever.

While Carrick has been at the receiving end of the vast majority of praise, United legend Gary Neville was left stunned in the commentary box after one player’s performance at the Emirates.

Dorgu’s got everyone talking

Patrick Dorgu’s strike in the 50th minute sent shockwaves through North London, putting United in front and helping the Reds become the first team to beat top-of-the-table Arsenal at their home ground for the first time this campaign.

Neville described the Denmark International to be ‘completely and utterly different’ in their most recent game in comparison to when he first arrived in Manchester. Neville isn’t the only one to have noticed Dorgu’s change in form.

Carrick has also praised the 21-year-old, with Dorgu having scored in both fixtures since Carrick filled the dugout. The United boss stated, “Pat’s been a big player for us, obviously he’s scored two goals, but in terms of the threat and athleticism and quality, he’s been immense down the side with Luke Shaw against two teams that ask a lot of questions.

“I am delighted for him because the two goals he’s scored are very different goals. It’s nice to see him smiling and happy.”

Will Dorgu be fit for Fulham?

Dorgu did not get to play the full 90 minutes, with the youngster leaving the pitch in discomfort. Carrick gave an update on the defenders fitnesses.

“He (Dorgu) obviously came off with, hopefully, a little bit of cramp; hopefully, it’s nothing worse.

“At this stage, it’s hard to tell, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”

United host Fulham this Sunday, who sit four points below United in 7th, both fans and staff of United will be hopeful that Dorgu will be fit to play and continue his scoring streak contiouing United’s high.
