Gary Neville explains “really good” moment he saw from Man Utd star despite Burnley draw

Garry Neville has highlighted a specific “really good” moment that he spotted from a Man Utd star despite the draw against Burnley.

Manchester United drew 2-2 against Burnley as another chance to go top four went begging, with the red devils making it three draws in three games.

The hosts took an early lead with an own goal after a cross from Bashir Humphrey ricocheted off Ayden Heaven and into the net. Lisandro Martinez thought he scored the equaliser soon after, following a set piece, but it was swiftly ruled out after the Argentinian was deemed to have fouled Kyle Walker in the build-up.

After 50 minutes of play, Benjamin Sesko put the scores level and swiftly scored his second to put the Red Devils in the lead. However, Burnley equalised within moments as Jaidon Anthony scored a screamer, with this being the home side’s first shot on target.

Darren Fletcher tried to push for a winner and subbed on Shea Lacey for his second appearance in the final ten minutes. The youngster almost made an immediate impact with his first touch being a curling effort that smashed against the bar. In the end, United huffed and puffed but could not secure the three points.

“Bingo Time for Sesko” says Neville

Sesko has endured a difficult start to his United career so far.

Although he has impressed with some of his technical play and the way he links up with his teammates, he has yet to show off the goal-scoring prowess that he has shown in his still young career.

However, today he backed up his overall game with two well-taken finishes, showing when he receives consistent service, he can be clinical.

Garry Neville, in his commentary for Sky Sports, picked up on something the Slovenian consistently did all night.

“Bingo time for Benjamin Sesko. We’ve not seen him smile much and his team-mates are reveling in it with him.

“He’s got in between centre-backs all night, and he does it again. That’s a really good finish. Manchester United have been really good in this second half.”

This skill of getting in between centre-backs is what generated the majority of his chances, whether it was shots on the ground or towering leaps to pull off headers. If he can carry this on in the matches going forward, he will be a deadly weapon for Fletcher and the next manager.

Attack could be even more potent

Even during the tenure of Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s attack has been scintillating. However, today, in a different system, especially in the second half, showed there were more levels that could be reached.

With Bryan Mbeumo and Amad, two of United’s best players this season, the attack has looked blunt. Even more with Bruno Fernandes out injured.

The return of the Portuguese to not only the side but his favoured attacking midfield role showcased the brilliance the side has been missing out on, with Fernandes largely being restricted to a deeper role earlier in the side. Despite first-half struggles, he was the key in the second half by unlocking the Burnley defence and eventually creating the first goal for Sesko.

The small cameo of Shea Lacey would have left fans excited for the future, and hopefully, he can pick up more minutes against Brighton in the FA Cup. The young starlet was direct and, most of all, courageous. Having the bravery to try put the ball into the top corner with your first touch is not something many senior players would try, let alone a player making his second-ever appearance.

With Sesko beginning to find his groove, hopefully with more chances being created for him by the likes of Fernandes and Matheus Cunha, who did not have the best display today, the Slovenian can go on a run of scoring.

For much of Amorim and Erik Ten Hag’s tenures, the club struggled to move the ball quickly enough to create chances for their forwards. Tonight, with fast attacks and dynamic counterattacks at times, they reaped the rewards of creating multiple chances for their main forward.
