Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer completely agree on ‘dangerous’ Man United star, he must do one thing
Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have completely agreed on one ‘dangerous’ Manchester United star, who must do one thing.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has started his tenure with two wins and a draw from his first three matches in charge.
His next test comes in the Premier League against Arsenal, but in the meantime, Amorim remains focused on further evaluating his squad.
The 39-year-old has already gained key insights into his players and will continue refining his evaluations as he strategises for the upcoming season.
Several players have impressed in his opening games, including Marcus Rashford, who has three goals in three games.
His brace and impressive performance against Everton caught the eye of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer after the game.
However, the two ex-strikers also believe that the 27-year-old has to find consistency under Amorim after being ‘streaky’ over recent years.
“[I’m] pleased for Marcus Rashford, a couple of goals for him,” Lineker said on the Rest Is Football podcast.
“It was interesting what Amorim said in the week, he obviously says ‘I believe in him, but he’s got to really want to himself’ – which I hope he does, I’m sure he does.
“Because when he’s on form – I mean he’s been streaky over the last few seasons – but when he’s on it, I mean he’s so talented, quick and dangerous, isn’t he?”
Shearer responded: “We’ve got to see that from him most weeks, you know, what he’s shown… he got his goal in the first game against Ipswich, did well again [against Everton].
“We’ve got to see that most weeks from him now, because over the past sort of couple years we haven’t seen that. We know it’s in there but he’s got to do that on a regular basis.”
