Manchester United Women beat Durham Women 5-0 to advance into the FA Cup Quarter Finals. Manchester United started the game as the better team with the Red Devils showing how good they are on the ball in midfield and upfront. Inside the first 20 minutes, United had numerous opportunities to put themselves ahead as Millie Turner had the best effort for the home side. When a corner was curled into the box by Leah Galton who found Turner, whose header went agonisingly close over the crossbar. Durham had their best chance of the game halfway through the first half when Mollie Lambert forced Mary Earps into action. Marc Skinner’s side opened the scoring three minutes before halftime through Norwegian, Boe Risa, who planted the ball in the top corner with Durham goalkeeper Naoisha McAloon not being able to get near the ball as it found the corner. Like the first half, United came out the blocks starting with their high-intensity play in mind, which paid off eight minutes into the second half. From Captain Katie Zelem’s magnificent ball to the open Leah Galton who scored her fifth goal of the season. Hannah Blundell added a third for United as the red train was not ready to stop just yet. Marc Skinner made some substitutions with 20 minutes to go which enabled Alessia Russo to come onto the field. As she let her presence be known to Durham scoring five minutes after coming on to put United up by four. Nikita Parris was the final goal scorer for the Reds as she rounded off a very impressive and dominant performance. Manchester United Women will now face Lewes LFC away in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup.
