Fabrizio Romano reveals when Rúben Amorim will make his Ruud van Nistelrooy future decision
Fabrizio Romano has revealed when Rúben Amorim will make his decision surrounding Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future at Manchester United.
With Rúben Amorim set to become Manchester United‘s new head coach on 11 November, Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped up in the interim to lead the team until that moment.
So far, the Dutchman has taken charge of two games: a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.

There are two fixtures left, a Europa League tie against PAOK and a second league fixture against Leicester, but the question remains if Van Nistelrooy will continue at the club beyond his interim period.
The Dutchman has been open about his desire to stay, explaining that he would like to help the club in any way he can, but so far, there has been no clarification on his future.
Van Nistelrooy explained earlier this week that he has not talked to Amorim, although some feel this is a deflection—although journalist Fabrizio Romano has clarified the situation.
Fabrizio Romano’s update
Following Van Nistelrooy’s words, Romano explained that he was telling the truth, and that Amroim is set to decide Van Nistelrooy’s future in the coming days after talking with him for the first time.
“I wanted to tell you that today in the press conference, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, the interim manager of Manchester United, said the truth,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “He was not lying.
“Van Nistelrooy never had any contact so far with Ruben Amorim. It is the reality. It’s not just Van Nistelrooy speaking in public just to protect the relationship. No. There are no contacts ongoing. And Ruben Amorim wants to make a decision in the next days on the staff and what he wants to do with Van Nistelrooy.
“So at the moment, it is not guaranteed that Van Nistelrooy will stay at Manchester United as part of the staff with Ruben Amorim. Van Nistelrooy said in public and in private that he’s open to staying is open to helping Manchester United in any position, but on Ruben Amorim’s side, he hasn’t called Van Nistelrooy so far.
“And so there is a possibility to part ways between Manchester United and Van Nistelrooy, who was obviously part of the coaching staff wanted by Erik ten Hag in the summer.
“So let’s see what happens there. But it’s not guaranteed, from what I’m told, that Van Nistelrooy will be part of the staff with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.”
