Fabrizio Romano reveals who Man Utd have added to their wishlist this January transfer window

Fabrizio Romano shares with followers a new player that has been added to United’s extensive list of potential signings for the January transfer window.

As the new year edges closer, Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim has been reviewing potential new signings to fit his new aims for the Reds.

In a recent upload, renowned Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano shared with his fans yet another player who has caught United’s eye. This player is soon to be reacquainted with Old Trafford this evening.

As The Reds face Bournemouth in a Monday night Premier League clash, Amorim has his eye on the opposition, particularly defensive midfielder Tyler Adams.

After first visiting the Manchester side during COVID with former club RB Leipzig, the American may see himself in a different dressing room come 2026.

Romano gives transfer update on Adams

Romano shared with his fans that, whilst United’s list for transfers appears hefty, it’s almost separated into two separate categories. Big name players like Carlos Baleba, Elliott Anderson and Adam Wharton are deals that the club only see as being possible in the summer, while players such as Adams and Wolves’ João Gomes find themselves in a different category of players the club could look to sign in January.

Adams has had a successful season so far for the Cherries. His most notable moment came from a fixture against Sunderland in late November, after the 26-year-old scored from nearly 50 yards out, lobbing the ball past Sunderland’s goalkeeper Robin Roefs, earning himself goal of the month.

Due to Adams’ positive contributions for Bournemouth, the club is reportedly unwilling to let go of their number six. This is due to several reasons; however, Romano suggests that Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola’s hesitation is due to Antoine Semenyo also looking likely to move to another Premier League side.

Despite the Spaniard manager’s success with Bournemouth this season, they go into tonight’s fixture against United on a six-game winless streak, four of which ended in defeats, which shows exactly why Iraola is not going to let Adams leave easily, needing these players to ensure the team’s season doesn’t completely derail in January.

What the chances are of signing Adams in January

Although now linked with United, Adams is only perceived by the club as an eventual option, with many other players spiking the Red’s interest and efforts more.

If Adams were to sign for United, the fee that comes alongside the midfielder is around £40m, with fans and pundits alike believing that other players will serve United much better than Tyler Adams. This, alongside Bournemouth’s unwillingness to let the player go, then creates the question of whether Adams will be seen in a United kit this season, or kept as an option for the summer.

Whilst Adams fits Amorim’s desire for a midfielder who is both physical and can adapt well to changes, Romano made good points surrounding how Adams will most likely remain an option for the Reds in January.

However, this doesn’t mean the potential arrival of the American International can be completely ruled out, with the perfect opportunity to impress United’s coaching staff this evening.
